Sonoma Coast Getaway Guide

The Sonoma Coast in Northern California combines many of my favorite things; the ocean, wine tasting, history, and exploring. If you only have a few days to visit this breath-taking part of California, here are a few little gems that you won’t want to miss.

GETTING THERE

If you head West along the 116 Highway towards the Pacific Ocean, about 75 miles North of San Francisco, you will pass Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve in Guerneville. You can pay $8 to drive your car inside the park, or walk along the trail at the Visitor Center and enter for free. There is nothing more peaceful for the soul than hiking and listening to the sound of stillness and winds whispering through the giant 1,000 year old Redwoods.

STAY

large-2The Lodge at Bodega Bay is a relaxing waterfront resort and spa with a loyal clientele. It’s the only AAA Four Diamond Hotel on the Sonoma Coast. Many guests have been coming for years and enjoy annual trips to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or holidays. With a spa like setting, outdoor fire pits, Jacuzzi, heated pool, and sauna – it’s common to see guests lounging, walking or even going to the hosted wine and cheese social in their bathrobes. Perfectly appointed guestrooms have a nautical design with Pacific Ocean views, wood-burning fireplaces, and a terrace.
